Former NBA star Michael Jordan clarified rumors after a social media post went viral, suggesting he endorsed Donald Trump in the presidential election. The post on X (formerly Twitter) alleged that Jordan had supported Trump following LeBron James’ endorsement of Kamala Harris.
Jordan's representatives shut down the false claim on Monday. They released a statement via "The Independent," clarifying MJ's involvement in this year's elections.
"There is absolutely no truth to the claim that Michael Jordan has made an endorsement in the presidential election," the representatives said.

Michael Jordan fans weren't convinced by the fake news about his endorsement of Trump that went viral
While the post about Michael Jordan's endorsement of Donald Trump went viral, most MJ fans didn't believe it.
"Jordan never endorsed anyone he ain't no fool," one fan said.
"This is how many times now that MAGA has lied about celebrity endorsements? They're only showing everybody how desperate they are with this nonsense," another fan responded.
"Please stop spreading around Jordan endorsed Trump. Please vet information before posting. It's embarrassing," a fan shared.
"When they have to fake endorsements... They are LOSING," one fan said.
Michael Jordan never viewed himself as an activist
In the 2020 Netflix documentary "The Last Dance," Jordan clarified a joke he made during the 1990 US Senate race in North Carolina. His comment was, "Republicans buy sneakers, too."
In the documentary, Jordan said:
"I don’t think that statement needs to be corrected because I said it in jest on a bus with Horace Grant and Scottie Pippen."
"It was thrown off the cuff. My mother asked to do a PSA for Harvey Gantt, and I said, 'Look, Mom, I’m not speaking out of pocket about someone that I don’t know. But I will send a contribution to support him.' Which is what I did."
After that, he said that he never viewed himself as an activist but commended other athletes like Muhammad Ali for doing so.
