Michael Jordan was made for the NBA All-Star Weekend with two Slam Dunk crowns and three All-Star Game MVPs, but did you know that Jordan participated in the 3-point contest? Did you also know that he had the worst performance in the competition's history?
MJ was invited to join the 1990 3-point contest in Miami, which he accepted. It was Jordan's first and last 3-point competition. He went up against some of the best shooters in NBA history, including Larry Bird, Craig Hodges, Reggie Miller and Mark Price.
While Jordan was not known for his long-distance shots, he was having the best season of his career shooting beyond the arc. He finished that season shooting 37.6%, going 92-for-245.

However, Jordan had a disastrous time in the 1990 3-point contest, making just five 3-point shots out of 30 attempts. He missed 25 shots and shot just 16.7%.
According to HoopsHype, it remains the worst percentage of points in the history of the competition. He's also tied with Detlef Schrempf for the fewest points scored in any round. Schrempf had the record in 1988 before Jordan joined him two years later.
"His Airness" was just a 32.7% shooter from the 3-point area during his legendary career. He drained a total of 581 shots from beyond the arc, but that was how the game was played during his time.
The 3-point shot was not as important as it is today. However, had the Chicago Bulls legend played in the NBA today, he would have worked on his 3-point shooting and possibly become great at it.
