Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are considered one of the best backcourt duos in NBA history after leading the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals. Last season, the duo combined for an average of 59.5 points per game, leading many to believe they are at least the most talented offensive backcourt in NBA history.

On Saturday afternoon, former Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons took it a step forward, crowning Doncic and Irving, "arguably the greatest backcourt in NBA history."

NBA fans roasted the take on X, bringing the greatness of other all-time backcourts into the discussion.

"Did the Splash Brothers just die or something," one fan said.
"Got packed up in five games by Derrick White and Jrue Holiday," another fan said.
"It's (Steph Curry) and (Klay Thompson)," a fan said, adding a GIF of the four-time NBA champions.

Fans continued to slam Parsons' take in the comments.

"This is easily one of the worst takes of all time," one fan said.
"Luka and Kyrie as the greatest backcourt duo," another fan said. "I guess we're just all the other duos who actually played defense."
"Bookmark worthy," one fan said.

Dallas Mavericks conclude NBA preseason

The Mavericks went 1-4 in preseason play, wrapping up with a 109-84 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday. Of Dallas’ star-studded duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, Irving was the only one of the two to suit up in the preseason.

Irving appeared in two of the preseason games. Against the Utah Jazz on Oct. 10, Irving notched 12 points, four rebounds and three assists in 17 minutes, shooting 6 of 11. Against Milwaukee, the Duke product played for 19 minutes, notching 14 points, two rebounds, two assists and two blocks with one steal. He shot 6 of 7, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range.

The Doncic and Irving-led Mavericks will tip off their regular season off at home versus the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
