NBA fans shared their thoughts on Anthony Davis' unsportsmanlike foul against South Sudan. The Team USA collective is on fire as it finished Wednesday's contest with a 103-86 win over the Sudanese nationals. However, even after another step along their gold medal path, Davis' late antics stole the show.

South Sudan's Nuni Omot drew the hard foul from Davis. USA players like Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Steph Curry tried to argue with the referee but weren't successful.

Fans gave their thoughts on social media. Here are highlights of what the fans said after the foul call on Davis.

"A dogfight with South Sudan is embarrassing," one fan said.
"That wasn’t a foul tho," another fan defended what Davis did on the court.
"Come on now that was a basketball move!" a fan wasn't letting the foul call go easily.

However, a few hardcore hoop fans didn't like how Team USA was still opposing the call despite being up big.

"How hard can you complain up double digits to South Sudan lmao," a fan had enough.
"Crying even in the olympics lol," another fan said.
"All the whiners," a fan said about the stars talking to the referee.

The foul on Davis wasn't overturned despite the players' explanation of what happened. Still, that didn't help South Sudan's uphill cause against Team USA.

How did Anthony Davis perform against South Sudan?

Coach Steve Kerr had a different approach in Team USA's second game of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Kerr decided to start Anthony Davis at center. The Lakers star played 19 minutes and finished with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists. His two blocks helped the team defensively.

A.D.'s play with the starting five was key to how the team built a significant lead. Compared to Joel Embiid, he's quicker defensively and has more tenacity on both ends. Having Davis start over Embiid is what most fans have wanted to see since Team USA began their recent international games.

Unfortunately for Embiid, he didn't get to play versus South Sudan. The 2023 NBA MVP registered his first DNP of the Olympics. Jayson Tatum, who had a DNP in the first game, was on the floor for 17 minutes. Even Tyrese Haliburton had seven minutes of action.

Their next game will be against Puerto Rico on Saturday.
