For years, Draymond Green has been the heart and soul of the Golden State Warriors.

Ever since Steve Kerr inserted him into the starting lineup, he became the team's vocal leader on and off the court. His passionate play and competitive fire drove the dynasty forward.

However, it also held the team back at times. Green starred in some controversial incidents throughout his career, including punching his former teammate, Jordan Poole, in the face in October 2022.

Things further escalated last season. Green was suspended multiple times for being involved in physical altercations and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver issued him an indefinite suspension for his repeated offenses.

The league made him go through some weekly check-in Zoom calls to make sure he was getting some work done in therapy to get better and back on the court. While reluctant at first, Green has admitted that it may have helped his career.

"These meetings became so therapeutic for me," Green said on Monday, via ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "It's helping me, and I f***ing love it. My plan is to do these meetings for the rest of my career because they're incredible."

Being such a hard-nosed competitor, getting this kind of help wasn't easy for Green. He opened up on how he never thought therapy was for him before liking it.

"Starting therapy was f***ing hard," Green said. "Because I'm from Saginaw, Michigan. I'm from an all-Black neighborhood that you don't go to therapy or you're f***ing weak. So you're retraining a brain that's been thinking a certain way for 30 years. The last thing you do growing up on the north side of Saginaw is (something that is perceived as) weak."

The Warriors need Draymond Green to turn things around

Having Draymond Green on the court has mostly been positive for the Golden State Warriors. His impact doesn't always reflect on the stat sheet, but he's still one of the most versatile defensive players in the league.

Moreover, his playmaking takes the pressure off of Stephen Curry's shoulders and his court vision and basketball IQ are also top-notch.

The Warriors are currently a Play-In team and they haven't been able to keep the momentum going after a strong start to the campaign.

Green will help weather the storm and keep everybody focused and locked in, as he is one of the Warriors' veteran leaders who has a lot of experience under his belt.
