The Golden State Warriors suffered a significant setback on Saturday when Draymond Green was forced to exit their game against the Washington Wizards. The veteran forward began limping during the first quarter and headed to the locker room at the nine-minute mark after consulting with Rick Celebrini.

The team later announced that Green would not return to the game, ruling him out for the remainder of the contest due to left calf tightness. The four-time NBA champion’s night was cut short as he logged just three minutes of play before exiting the game with zero points and one rebound.

Draymond Green returned to the Warriors’ starting lineup on Saturday after missing three consecutive games due to illness and a calf injury. Coach Steve Kerr opened the game with a lineup featuring Steph Curry, Dennis Schroder, Andrew Wiggins, Green and Trayce Jackson-Davis.

Warriors fans are hopeful that Green’s latest injury isn’t serious and won’t result in more missed games. The veteran forward has already been sidelined for seven games this season and any additional absence could prove costly as Steph Curry and the team fight to climb the Western Conference standings.

Heading into the game against the Wizards, the Warriors had played 40 games this season, splitting them evenly with 20 wins and 20 losses. Currently, they sit outside of the play-in tournament contention, making every game crucial for their postseason hopes.
