Draymond Green of the Warriors believes the Minnesota Timberwolves made an excellent business move by recruiting Rob Dillingham. The backup shooting guard was a position the Timberwolves desperately needed to strengthen this summer and the management took swift action by acquiring Dillingham, the 8th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, from the Spurs. This is a high-risk, but high-reward pick.

During the latest episode of "The Draymond Green Show," the veteran forward said that Dillingham is a very special player and believes some top draft teams were hesitant due to his playing style.

“The reason is they drafted their point guard of the future in Rob Dillingham who I think is a very special player," Green said. "He got swag and he got game and they don’t know If his game fits into their system that don’t work and get them fired.”

Green later went on to compare this situation to Stephen Curry, noting that teams sometimes struggle to adapt for exceptional scorers.

“When you can just get a really good player who can score the basketball - Steph Curry - and figure out how the system works out for you and then all of sudden the franchise in a territory that never been in before. But, as you know, at times, we run into guards with swag that just don’t fit into the system and teams run away from him. And there’s going to be some teams that’s going to regret passing Rob Dillingham.”

The Timberwolves’ front office couldn't pass up this pick because of Dillingham’s potential and what he brings to the team. They have their core trio already established in Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. Additionally, Mike Conley Jr. is still there as well.

Dillingham fills a crucial need for a high-caliber backup point guard. He could even potentially develop into Conley's successor next season.

Rob Dillingham thrilled to join Timberwolves family

Rob Dillingham is ready to contribute to Minnesota's success and expressed his appreciation for the team's trust in his development while speaking to reporters on Wednesday.

"It's a blessing for real. It just shows they have trust in me to develop. And if they trust me, that's all that's needed. I feel like I can be as much of a help as they need me to be and whatever they need me to do. I feel like I can come in and do it,” Dillingham said.

Drafted 8th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2024 NBA Draft and was immediately traded to Minnesota, The 6-foot-2 talented guard is poised to make an impact.

When asked about playing alongside star Anthony Edwards, he said:

"You know what Anthony Edwards brings, so you know what to expect from him. I'll definitely be working too, so, I don't know what to expect yet but you'll definitely see when the season comes.”

Dillingham's ceiling is so high that he can be the potential missing link to help the Timberwolves make another postseason appearance.
