Rudy Gobert nearly got hit by an object falling from the Jumbotron during the first quarter of the Minnesota Timberwolves-Atlanta Hawks clash on Monday. As the opening period concluded, the players began heading to their respective benches when an object from the Jumbotron unexpectedly fell onto the hardwood.
Luckily, Gobert wasn’t walking any faster; the falling object landed just a few feet away. The Frenchman was understandably taken aback as it could have caused serious damage.
“Something just fell from the jumbotron… It was within feet of Rudy Gobert,” the commentator explained the situation to the viewers.

Despite the shock on Gobert’s face, most social media users showed no sympathy. They seized the moment to crack jokes. Many on X joked that Draymond Green, who dislikes Gobert, was targeting the Wolves center from above.
"Draymond I see u dawg," @onetimecards wrote.
"It probably Draymond," a user jokingly blamed Green.
“Draymond up there *crying emoji*,” a user commented.
“Who let draymond in the rafters,” @groatedd wrote.
On the other hand, some expressed genuine concerns.
“This was clearly a failed attack. We need a full investigation immediately,” @DentedDanny wrote.
“I'm glad it didn't hit him looks like it could mess somebody up,” @NeilInDallas wrote.
The long-lasting beef between Draymond Green and Rudy Gobert
Every basketball enthusiast is aware that Draymond Green and Rudy Gobert don’t exactly see eye-to-eye because of a feud that began eight years ago.
During the 2016-2017 NBA season, both Green and Gobert emerged as top contenders for the Defensive Player of the Year award. As the season progressed and the race tightened, the then-Utah Jazz big man highlighted his defensive strengths and pointed out certain attributes he believed surpassed Green's. Feeling attacked, the Warriors forward responded with a clapback.
Since then, the animosity between the two stars has been made public through interviews, podcasts, and social media exchanges.
Tension escalated during the 2023-2024 season. In the middle of a game between the Timberwolves and the Warriors, a scuffle broke out. During this heated altercation, Green placed the European star in a chokehold.
There remains no love lost between the two defensive stalwarts after this infamous incident.
