While he isn't in the NBA anymore, Dwight Howard still likes to share his thoughts on the league. The former All-Star recently took to social media to make a suggestion for one of his old teams.

Over the past few years, there have been countless documentary series around basketball. The biggest hit was "The Last Dance," covering Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.

Having seen the success of documentaries in recent history, Dwight Howard wants to see one for the LA Lakers. He thinks the behind-the-scenes stuff would be interesting with the hiring of JJ Redick and LeBron James possibly playing alongside his son.

During his 18 years in the league, Howard had three separate stints with the LA Lakers. The first run was in 2013 when he was paired alongside Kobe Bryant. That ended up lasting just one year, but he made his return in 2020.

Howard's second stint with the Lakers went much better, as we won a championship alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He last played for LA in 2022, which was his final run in the league.

Dwight Howard has high praise for Lakers' hiring of JJ Redick

Before bringing up his idea of a documentary, Dwight Howard spoke about the LA Lakers' latest hire. While some have been skeptical of the Lakers' decision to hire Redick as head coach, Howard supports it.

After dismissing Darvin Ham after two seasons, the Lakers have brought in JJ Redick to replace him. This came as a surprise to some, as he had no previous coaching experience.

When the Lakers officially inked Redick to a deal, Dwight Howard compared him to another prominent figure in the game. He feels the longtime sharpshooter has the chance to become the next Pat Riley.

Similar to Redick, Riley got his start in the NBA as a player. Not long after his playing career, he transitioned into coaching. He'd go on to have great success, helping lead Magic Johnson and the "Showtime" Lakers to four championships in the 1980s.

Following his nearly 30-year run as a coach in the NBA, Riley moved into a front-office role. Since 2008, he has been the general manager of the Miami Heat. He won two more titles in Miami with the trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Riley has been the definition of an NBA lifer, and Howard feels Redick has the potential to be the same. At 40 years old, he is young for a head coach. This could give him the chance to have a long run in the league similar to Riley.
