Dwight Howard and his ex-girlfriend Royce Reed have had a messy relationship. On Friday's episode of Cam Newton's "Funky Friday" podcast, Reed claimed that Howard took steps to ensure that she would not speak about him publicly on a TV show that she was in.
According to Reed, Howard used a document to prevent her from mentioning him on the VH1 show "Basketball Wives":
"When I was doing the show, we were initially on it together," Reed said (18:44). "I pitched it to all these stations, and it got picked up. And then, we broke up. He cheated on me."

Reed went on to narrate that after the breakup, she went on X to vent her feelings on Howard. Her social media activity "pissed off" the three-time Defensive Player of the Year, who then took action.
"He had all these attorneys write up all these things," Reed said (19:16). "Like, 'We just want wanna make sure, if she's still gonna do the show, that she's not gonna talk trash about him.'"
Reed added that his lawyer asked her to sign a document, noting that the lawyer was "rushing" her to do so. Reed also claimed that the document was an injunction with specific requests from Howard.
"It says, I could not speak his name, show my child's photo, say my child's name (and) be around anyone that knew him," Reed said (20:04).
Reed said the document did not say that its provisions would last "till death." Rather, it allegedly included the words "till the end of time."
Although the injunction supposedly has this kind of scope, Reed claimed that Howard made her sign another agreement to render the injunction null and void. In Reed's point of view, she was now free to talk about the ups and downs of her relationship with the former NBA center.
Reed cited two key motivating factors for wanting to open up. According to her, the mental strain of not being able to speak up was taking a toll on her and Braylon, her son with Howard. Additionally, Reed said that she wanted to help others going through similar situations.
"When someone has so much power over you, and you become like the ant fighting the elephant," Reed said (15:14). "Whatever you try and say, they just stomp on you over and over again. My goal is for them to have a safe space to get their story out."
Dwight Howard on the moms of his kids: "I don't want to fight with them"
On Dec. 31, Howard went on the "Ray Daniels Presents" podcast. In an Instagram clip showing an excerpt from his guesting, he talked about the two women he has kids with.
"Unfortunately, we had to go to court. I don't like the court. Let's just figure it out amongst each other," Howard said. "But with those, with my two kids' moms, I don't want to fight with them. We got kids together, (and) they're growing up. They can see this."
Although Howard did not name the women in this clip, he was presumably referring to Reed and Tiffany Render.
