Dwight Howard’s ex Royce Reed talks about his “curious” sexual preferences on Cam Newton’s podcast

Dwight Howard’s ex-partner Royce Reed came out on Friday to open up once more about her tumultuous relationship with the former basketball star. In an episode of the "Funky Friday" podcast, hosted by Cam Newton, Reed talked about Howard’s sexual preferences and how it made her feel uncomfortable.

Reed opened up about Howard’s requests for certain sexual acts when they were still together, which Reed ultimately obliged, even if it was against her will.

“I was green … They talk about our age gap which he was 18 and I was 24. But if people have ever listened to me, I say all the time, I wasn’t allowed to date until I graduated high school. I went to prom and homecoming by myself,” Reed said. (1:24:24-1:24:44)

“I’m like, ‘He is green just like I am.’ But this is something he wants to try (I thought), maybe this is how we explore sex,” (1:25:43-1:25:51) Reed said. “I didn’t like it. But you know, he would like my finger.” (1:25:57-1:26:01)

After Reed’s comments, Newton went as far as to ask her if she believed her ex-husband was gay.

“I think he is curious,” Reed answered. (1:26:17-1:26:21)

Reed also recalled a time when Howard tried to introduce her to a "polyamorous thing" with a "variety of people" at a party during the pandemic.

"It's such a variety of people ... I was saying polyamorous thing," she said. (1:26:56-1:27:41)

The revelation came at a bad time for Howard’s life as he is set to marry American rapper Amy Luciani in 2025 after their engagement last year. Howard is also one of the nominees for the 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame for his 18-year career in the NBA, which included one championship with the LA Lakers in 2020.

Royce Reed and Dwight Howard share a son together named Braylon. The two were together for three years in a tumultuous relationship that has been marred by lawsuits from both parties.

In the same podcast episode, Royce Reed alleged Dwight Howard to have pressured her to stay silent after their breakup. Reed went on to say that Howard used multiple lawyers to make sure that she was silent about him as part of the reality television show “Basketball Wives.”

"He had all these attorneys write up all these things," Reed said (19:16). "Like, 'We just want wanna make sure, if she's still gonna do the show, that she's not gonna talk trash about him.'

"It says, I could not speak his name, show my child's photo, say my child's name (and) be around anyone that knew him," she added (20:04).

Reed also said that being silent took a toll on her over the years and it is high time for her to speak up about her ex.
