Dwyane Wade has been giving Angel Reese her flowers even before the former LSU star entered the WNBA. Wade’s appreciation of Reese became even more pronounced when the Chicago Sky, co-owned by the former Miami Heat star, drafted the 6-foot-4 forward. “D-Wade” calls the Sky All-Star forward “family.”

Reese gave back to one of her mentors by showering Wade’s daughter Kaavia James Union Wade with an all-pink “Double-Double” package. The 2006 NBA Finals MVP went on Instagram to show gratitude for the gifts.

He captioned the post with:

“@kaaviajames in her favorite @angelreese5 gear! We appreciate the package [salute emoji]”

Angel Reese promptly replied via another IG story:

“Such a cutie! Love her [love emojis]”

The package from the self-called “Chi Barbie” included a shirt with the word “double-double” emblazoned across it. It is undoubtedly about Reese's accomplishments for the Sky even as a rookie. This season, she set the record with 15 straight double-doubles, which helped her earn an All-Star selection.

Dwyane Wade did not let the moment pass by without saying something on social media following Reese’s All-Star nod. He posted on X, formerly Twitter:

"Yall gonna listen when [Angel Reese] speaks. Congrts All [Star].”

When Reese also eventually broke Tina Charles’ record of 22 double-doubles in a season with her 23rd, Wade lauded the Sky rookie:

“History in the making”

Reese hasn’t taken the support and appreciation for granted so it wasn’t surprising that Kaavia James Wade got a special package.

Dwyane Wade leaves out Caitlin Clark after acknowledging Angel Reese’s historic feat

When Angel Reese got her 23rd double-double of the season, it came against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. In front of a rowdy crowd in Chicago that celebrated “Barbie Night,” the Fever sensation stole the show. Clark finished with a career-high 31 points and 12 assists, the first in WNBA history with at least 30 points and 12 assists.

Wade was roundly criticized on social media for acknowledging Reese’s “historic” night while leaving out Clark. As a basketball legend, some thought that he could have given props to another rising WNBA star.

The snub didn’t surprise basketball insiders, though, as the Fever rookie’s dominant performance likely shut down the Rookie of the Year award talks. Dwyane Wade is a Chicago Sky minority owner who just saw Reese thoroughly outclassed. For the observers, it wouldn’t be good for team morale if one of the team stakeholders praised a rival.
