Dwyane Wade had his statue unveiled outside Miami's Kaseya Center on Oct. 27, though it became infamous for not resembling the NBA star. Designed by Israeli sculptor Omri Amrany and his studio partner Oscar León, the statue commemorates Wade’s iconic moment during a game against the Chicago Bulls in 2009, when he famously exclaimed, “This is my house!” after hitting a game-winning shot.

On Sunday, he shared shoutouts to his parents on Instagram, posting photos from the statue unveiling ceremony and expressing gratitude for the lessons he learned from them.

“Thank you Pops for the good looks,” he captioned a photo with his father, Dwyane Wade Sr.

He followed this with a photo of himself dancing with his mother, stating:

“Mom thank you for my swag.”

Wade is widely celebrated as one of the greatest shooting guards in NBA history. He spent the majority of his 16-year career with the Miami Heat, winning championships in 2006, 2012 and 2013.

He is considered arguably the best shot-blocking guard of all time, having recorded 885 blocks throughout his career — the highest total by any guard in NBA history, with Michael Jordan trailing at 828.

The statue stands 8 feet tall and is made of bronze. Wade personally selected the pose and visited the studio multiple times to ensure every detail was perfect, even though it still faced criticism from those who claimed it didn’t resemble him.

In an interview with Highsnobiety, Dwyane Wade discussed his fashion style, attributing his sense of neatness and style to his father, Dwyane Wade Sr., whom he described as someone who always maintained good grooming and hygiene.

“My father has always been a man who would take care of himself,” he said. “He was just a fly dude, and it didn’t matter if it was a sweatsuit or if it was a suit.”

Since retiring, Wade has become known for painting his nails. He mentioned it was something he wanted to do because he enjoyed being well-dressed.

“I’ve been getting my nails painted since 2007,” Wade said. “I always knew that’s what I wanted to do: I wanted to be one of them sharp-dressed men who smelled good, who stayed clean-shaved, and all that.”

Wade played 16 seasons for the Heat, Bulls and Cavaliers. He averaged 22.0 points, 5.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 1,054 regular-season games.
