The league has revealed the new Emirates NBA Cup for the 2024-25 season with a new name, logo, and system. The inaugural In-Season Tournament was quite a success during the 2023-24 season. The reception from the fans was mostly positive and the league has decided to make things interesting for the event's next edition.
Firstly, the event will no longer be called the In-Season Tournament. Instead, it will be addressed as the NBA Cup. Last season, teams were randomly split into groups based on their division. It will likely be the same this time, but the league may also consider each team's win-loss record from the past campaign.
ESPN will reveal the six groups for next season on NBA Today. Fans can tune in Friday (6/12) at 7 p.m. ET to see which group their favorite teams will land in.

According to the league, the event will start on Nov. 12 and the Semifinals will start on Dec. 14. The championship will be on Dec. 17 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Group Play will begin on Nov. 12 through Dec. 3 where they each play four games on "Cup Nights." Each team will play one game against every team in their group. The NBA stated that it will be two games at home and two games on the road for each Group Play game.
At the Knockout Rounds, only eight teams will advance. The team with the best record in each group will be featured in the next round, as well as two "wild card" teams. All games in this round will be single elimination and it will determine which team will advance to the final stage.
Much like last season, all games of the event will be part of the 82-game schedule of each team. Fans will get to watch 14 games televised next season, including all games of the Knockout Rounds.

What happened during the first-ever NBA Cup?
Last season, the LA Lakers took home the first-ever NBA Cup after defeating the Indiana Pacers at the final stage. The players received $500,000 each for winning the cup and the MVP was awarded to LeBron James. For next season, the league hasn't revealed how much the cash prize for the players will be.
There was also an All-Tournament team, which was similar to the All-NBA teams. James, Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and Tyrese Haliburton were the first players named to the All-Tournament team.
Each team also had separate uniforms and court designs specific to the tournament. The league will soon reveal the new jerseys and court designs for the new edition of the tournament.
