Ex-Lakers champion breaks down key factor for a franchise while choosing between Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper

Former Lakers champion Danny Green discussed collegiate talents Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper on Monday. The three-time NBA champion broke down the key factor for a franchise when drafting a player, giving his reasons on why he would draft either talent if he were a GM.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post by Brandon 'ScoopB" Robinson former NBA star Danny Green talked about who among Duke star Copper Flagg and Rutgers guard Dylan Harper he would draft.

"Picking Cooper Flagg or Dylan Harper in the 2025 NBA Draft if you’re an NBA GM?," was the question

Danny Green responded:

"If I need a point guard, I’ll go with Dylan Harper. If I need a wing or a small forward, I’m going for Cooper. So, it’s all about position."

The former Spurs, Raptors and Lakers champion retired in October 2024 but has stayed involved in basketball. Green is an analyst on ESPN and NBA TV and also does podcasts and interviews.

Danny Green believes the 2020 Lakers should have stuck together

During the interview with Brandon Robinson, former Lakers star Danny Green opened up about his thoughts on the 2020 Lakers team.

The Orlando Bubble champions beat the Miami Heat in the Finals. Green believes they could have run it back had the team stuck together. The former Tar Heel shared how the team was dissected in the summer, which changed the Lakers' fortunes for the worse.

"The team wasn’t the same after," Green said. "Guys went to different places and got traded so we weren’t able to run it back. We spoke about this a couple times on Dwight Howard’s podcast and a bunch of other people’s podcasts.

"He thinks we would’ve gotten a three-peat. I say we would’ve got two. I don’t know if we would’ve done three but I think for sure if that team would’ve stayed together, we could’ve gotten a second one." he revealed during the interview.

One of the biggest 'what ifs' in modern NBA, the 2020 Los Angeles Lakers were a great team and led the Western Conference that year, finishing as the top seed. They beat the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets and the Denver Nuggets before beating the Miami Heat in six games to be crowned as NBA champions.
