Ex-Lakers guard doesn't hesitate in comparing Luka Doncic to Kobe Bryant

Former LA Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic has compared Luka Doncic to the late Kobe Bryant. Vujacic was an essential piece to the Lakers during his tenure with the team, winning two titles in 2009 and 2010 alongside Bryant, serving as one of the team's sharpshooters.

Given the significant amount of time they spent together, Sasha Vujacic knew Kobe Bryant on a personal level. With that in mind, Vujacic believes that Luka Doncic has a few similarities with Bryant.

Vujacic shared that when he first saw the Slovenian play, he immediately felt that Doncic resembled Bryant on the hardwood. Sasha noted that Luka has the same killer instinct as Kobe and could win multiple championships because of it in the future.

"I watched (Luka Doncic) play, and he might be the only one that reminds me a little bit more than anybody else of Kobe (Bryant)," Vujacic said. "The reason being... there's something in his eyes that when he plays basketball, it's just that killer thing that he has. ... He's special. I think if he stays on the right path, there's quite a few championships ahead of him."

Luka Doncic believes Lakers could win NBA title

The LA Lakers have secured the third seed in the Western Conference. Their success came thanks to the support of Luka Doncic. Since his shocking trade in early February, the Lakers went from looking like a play-in team to a playoff contender.

Given the Lakers' sudden rise in the ladder, Doncic is enthusiastic about their chances of winning the championship this season.

"(Winning the championship) is our only goal," Doncic said. "I think we have the team to do it."

Looking at Luka's numbers as a Laker this season, he immediately became the team's best player. In the 28 games he played for LA in the regular season, Doncic averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1.6 steals. He already bested LeBron James, and it's clear that Luka will be taking the lead moving forward.

Luka Doncic also makes a good point about having the team to probably win the championship. Aside from having LeBron by his side, Austin Reaves has evolved into a star player, efficiently playing his role as LA's third option. Reaves averaged 20.2 ppg, 5.8 apg, 4.5 rpg and 1.1 spg. Each of his season averages is a career high.

With all that in mind, the LA Lakers seemed to be equipped to face the challenges that are about to come in the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
