Ex-NBA player Etan Thomas contrasts Nick Bosa's MAGA hat stunt to Colin Kaepernick's kneel: "You are a hypocrite"

Former NBA player Etan Thomas called out people who were angry at Colin Kaepernick's kneeling protest in 2016. Thomas also pointed fingers at those who are praising San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa for his MAGA hat stunt on Sunday.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Thomas challenged the people who were unhappy with Kaepernick's protest but praised Bosa's actions. The ex-Washington Wizards big man called them hypocrites ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election:

"If you were outraged when Kaepernick took a knee, told him to stay in his place, screamed he should never play in the NFL again etc, etc but are praising Nick Bosa for having the courage to use his platform as an athlete to stand up for what he believes in…. YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE."

Nick Bosa made headlines after interrupting his teammates' postgame interview after the San Francisco 49ers beat the Dallas Cowboys. Bosa wore a MAGA hat, but quickly backtracked following tough questions by the media.

As for Etan Thomas, he played in the NBA from 2001 to 2011. He became a motivational speaker and political activist after retirement. He will be supporting Kamala Harris in the upcoming election. He's a known critic of Donald Trump, who is vying to become president again after losing in 2020.

In addition to Bosa, Thomas also questioned former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick's decision to vote for Trump. The ex-NBA player was baffled by her choice given the amount of hate she got from the same people who supported the former POTUS.

"Danica Patrick, they literally disrespected you for your entire career. Called you a DEI driver. Said you didn’t belong solely because you’re a woman. Attacked you with every sexist, mysogynistic insult they possibly could. How did they convince you to side with them?" Thomas asked.

The 2024 presidential election is on Nov. 5, an important date for the future of the United States. Kamala Harris is looking to make history as the first-ever female president, while Donald Trump wants a second shot at running the country.

After four seasons at Syracuse, Etan Thomas was drafted 12th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in 2000. Thomas never suited up for the Mavericks since he was recovering from a toe injury when he got traded to the Washington Wizards midway through the 2000-01 season.

Thomas played eight seasons for the Wizards, serving as the team's primary backup center. He made headlines before the 2007-08 season when he underwent open heart surgery after a medical caught his aortic valve leaking. He missed the entire campaign before returning the next season.

The New York native also played for the OKC Thunder and Atlanta Hawks before retiring from basketball in 2011. Some of his top teammates include Michael Jordan, Antawn Jamison, Gilbert Arenas, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Joe Johnson and Al Horford.
