Washington D.C. native Kevin Durant was thrilled to see his Washington Commanders finally get over the hump in an electrifying NFL wild-card game on Sunday night. The Commanders were involved in a nail-biting win-or-go-home playoff matchup and managed to hold on for a slender 23-20 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sunday was a historic night for the Commanders. It was the franchise's first playoff win since 2006 and snapped the third-longest active streak in the league. Washington has played four playoff games over the last 20 years and lost each one.

Kevin Durant could not hold back his excitement, turning to social media to express his joy. Following the game, Durant posted a series of images celebrating the win on his Instagram story.

The images varied in nature, with one of linebacker Bobby Wagner celebrating in the locker room. Durant made sure to add a picture of Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels alongside popular wide receiver Terry McLaurin with the caption "Dynamic."

Daniels played the role of hero on the night. The former LSU star was sensational under pressure, throwing for 268 yards and two touchdowns and leading his team down the field late in the game to set up the game-winning field goal.

Durant was in Arizona on Sunday leading the Phoenix Suns to a 120-113 win over the Charlotte Hornets. But the proud Commanders fan made it a point to share a special message for his hometown team after a monumental triumph.

Kevin Durant, born in D.C. and raised around the nation's capital, has stayed true to his roots. The Washington Commanders have struggled over the last two decades, but the NBA star's loyalty has never wavered.

During an interview with popular media personality Kay Adams in September, Durant spoke about his love for Washington's NFL team and the one football team he can't stand. When asked by Adams which football team he would hypothetically get rid of, the Suns forward did not hesitate with his answer.

"Cowboys, easy," responded Durant. "I just don't like 'em... The Cowboys are that one team I just don't like. I think it's because a lot of people where I'm from in D.C. have become Cowboys fans. ... I just hate that they dont stay loyal."

Washington's NFL team and the Dallas Cowboys are longstanding rivals, with the hostility between the franchises dating back over 60 years. The two teams compete in the same division, and there have been plenty of heated battles over Durant's lifetime.

This season, the Commanders got the better of their Texas rivals, finishing second in the NFC East with a 12-5 record and qualifying for the playoffs.
