Like most NBA teams, the Memphis Grizzlies have revealed the designs for their City Edition jersey for the upcoming season. Their decision to go back to their roots resulted in a massive show of support from fans.
When the organization was first launched as an expansion team in 1996, Memphis was not its home. Instead, it was based in Canada. The Grizzlies would go on to play their first six seasons in Vancouver before eventually making the move to Memphis in 2001.
This year, they plan to honor their former home with their City Edition jersey. On Friday morning, they revealed that they'll be bringing back their Vancouver uniforms in 2025.

Upon hearing this news, NBA fans rushed to social media to share their thoughts. Some were more than pleased to see Memphis bring back these iconic throwbacks:
Some fans are so fond of the jersey that they think Memphis will win the NBA championship with them:
"Only destiny that the Grizzlies win the title this year," one fan said.
"Grizzlies gonna be a top 4 team in the West with these threads," another fan said.
"WE ARE SO BACK," said another fan.
As a new franchise, the team didn't have much success in Vancouver. Its best record came in the final season, going 23-59 in 2001.
Memphis Grizzlies in a position to get back in the Western Conference title hunt
Since 2022, the Memphis Grizzlies looked on track to be a formidable force in the Western Conference. However, things went off the rails for them last season. Following a long road to recovery, everything is in place for the franchise to return to form.
The main thing that derailed Memphis last year was the Ja Morant situation. The star player started the year on the sidelines due to a suspension and then suffered a season-ending injury shortly after making his return. Without the services of their star player, Memphis struggled greatly to stay competitive.
Morant was one of many players to miss out with injuries last season. That said, the team is now relatively healthy again. At full strength, the Grizzlies should be a team to monitor in a loaded Western Conference.
From a talent perspective, the Grizzlies have a strong cast of players who can get it done on both ends. Morant is ascending to a superstar, and Desmond Bane has developed into a strong complementary piece in the backcourt. On top of that, Memphis has the trio of Marcus Smart, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Steven Adams to hold things down defensively.
Following a down year in 2024, Memphis has a lot to prove heading into a new season. The pressure is now on the players to step up and get the trajectory of the franchise back on track.
