Kevin Durant apologetic over All-Star comments

The NBA All-Star week will be held in San Francisco this year as the Chase Center will host the fan favorite exhibition between 14-16 Feb. 2025. A new format will be implemented during this year's All-Star weekend and Suns star Kevin Durant isn't a big fan of the new configuration.

Ditching the old two-team format where best players from each conference will play against one another, the new All-Star format will see four teams of eight players feature in a mini-tournament with the winner being the first team to reach 40-points.

Kevin Durant was critical of this format in its infancy but has since walked back on his comments during his interview with Kay Adams. Although still sticking with his opinion, Kevin Durant wished he hadn't publicly spoken his mind:

"I probably should’ve said something else, to be honest… I can’t be going up against the league like that, but that was my opinion. It’s like tournament-style. It’s not really my thing, But we’ll see, man. We’ll see. We’ll see if it’ll stick, and people start to like it, especially the players. The players are the ones that matter. So, we’ll see what happens. I should know better, I think those are one of those conversations you have internally with the guys." he said during the interview.

The new format will have three All-Star teams that will be drafted by former NBA greats and current TV analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal and Kenny Smith. Meanwhile, Candace Parker will head the fourth team which will be the winner of the Rising Stars Champion game.
