The LA Clippers will no longer be co-tenants with the LA Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena when the 2024-25 NBA season starts. Clippers team governor Steve Ballmer opened the $2 billion Intuit Dome on Thursday to ramp up the excitement of fans, concertgoers, and the Inglewood community.
To commemorate the unveiling of the state-of-the-art facility, the Clippers handed out rings to those who attended the grand opening.
The gesture promptly earned the fans’ reaction on X, formerly Twitter:
“THEY FINALLY GOT THEIR RINGS”

@SixthManJake jumped on the same thread:
“Only rings clippers fans will ever see in their lives congrats”
A Sacramento Kings supporter dragged Joel Embiid into the conversation:
“Someone said Clipper fans got rings before Embiid made the ECF”
Another fan couldn’t resist trolling the Clippers:
“jokes write for themselves”
A Lakers fan also made fun of their crosstown rivals:
"As a Lakers fan we ain’t even gotta say anything, the clippers do it to themselves 💀"
Basketball fans have been taking shots at the LA Clippers since they decided to share a home floor with the LA Lakers starting the 1998-99 season. While the Lakers have multiple championship banners to show, the Clippers have none yet. In Los Angeles, most fans call the Jeanie Buss-owned franchise the LA team to root for.
Former Clippers star Paul George, who exercised a player option to leave the team, understood the difference. What he said in his podcast rings true about how most fans view the two Los Angeles NBA teams:
“I’m on the B team. That’s how the vibe and the love felt.”
The ring jokes will only stop if the LA Clippers win their first NBA championship. Perhaps a change in home arenas might help the team accomplish that.
LA Clippers governor Steve Ballmer hyped up the fans during his speech to open Intuit Dome
Steve Ballmer, the passionate and feisty owner of the LA Clippers, was the man of the hour at the grand opening of the Intuit Dome. Since buying the franchise from the controversial Donald Sterling, Ballmer has raised hopes of Clipper fans that a championship could eventually come. He was the most excited man on Thursday for the unveiling of the plush arena.
Ballmer had this to say when called to say something about the event:
“Damn, I’m fired up!!! … I love what we built but I want all of you to love what we built. … It’s our house but we also knew that our house had to be more than just about basketball. Our house was gonna be about music and basketball. … I think of this as the best basketball facility ever built.”
Steve Ballmer has charisma that has been the anchor of LA Clippers fans’ hopes of a championship. The team’s supporters are looking forward to enjoying the Intuit Dome experience and hopefully seeing their team get a championship ring sooner rather than later.
