LeBron James appeared on the New Heights podcast hosted by NFL brothers Jason and Travis Kelce on Jan. 15. During the show, James was asked about an alleged scrimmage when he was 16. As he told the Kelce brothers while playing in a scrimmage with players like Antoine Walker, Penny Hardaway and Ron Artest to name just a few, he was unguardable.
The problem is that the story isn't true, per Mike Procopio, co-host of former NBA champion Andrew Bogut's podcast "Rogue Bogues." Despite LeBron James saying he was unguardable and Artest - now known as Metta Sandiford-Artest, saying he dominated - James didn't stand out during the scrimmage.
On Tuesday's episode of Rogue Bogues, Procopio shared that he used to work at the facility 'Hoops The Gym,' where the scrimmage took place. According to his former coworkers, James played well. Despite being 16, he fit in with the NBA players on the court but didn't dominate the game, or Michael Jordan.
"I worked there for 10 years and the same guys worked there at that time that worked there when I worked there," Procopio said. "And they told me about LeBron coming in at 16. And I asked him, I said, 'How did he look?' And he said, 'Hey, look, he was good.' The one thing they did say, was that he wasn't afraid and he played hard."

"But mostly they said he just sort of fit in, made some passes, couple good plays here and there but was nothing spectacular. If you're trying to evaluate him as a high school kid he did really well but nothing as far as taking over games."
"When I finally got out there I was like, 'I'm busting a** man," - LeBron James talks about legendary scrimmage at 16
After Ron Artest shared his side of the infamous scrimmage at Tim Grover's 'Hoops The Gym' facility in Chicago, the famed scrimmage was again thrown into the spotlight.
Rumors of the scrimmage have been circulating for years and an incredibly rare picture of LeBron James and Michael Jordan together on the court proves that it happened.
The question, of course, is what happened during the famed scrimmage. On the New Heights podcast, King James explained that by the time he got into one of the scrimmages featuring top NBA players, he had been waiting for a shot for quite a long time.
Because of that, once he checked in, he didn't waste the opportunity to show off just how NBA-ready he was.
"I was unguardable." (39:16 onwards) "... When I finally got out there I was like 'I'm busting ass man.' I was nervous, I was nervous as hell, being out there with MJ and the rest of those guys, but I'm like a kid. I was like 'Oh I'm about to go crazy,' and I did. I did man."
Per Mike Procopio, Kevin Garnett may have also been at the same scrimmage. Given that Garnett and former Celtics teammate Paul Pierce co-host a podcast, we may hear his side of the story now that the story is gaining traction online.
