Unfortunate news surfaced this week that former player Delonte West was once again arrested. It's a tragic update to the very long and public battle West has endured in recent years. Things came to a head this week when an anonymous witness called the police on a man who was reported to be "trespassing" in a Fairfax County, Virginia, parking lot.
When police arrived on the scene, they encountered West, who allegedly began to become aggressive during the interaction. The former NBA veteran then fled the scene before officers caught up with him and arrested him on four separate charges, ranging from "fleeing law enforcement" to "public intoxication."
After being arrested, West was reportedly later released from custody. Reports from TMZ and Complex are not clear as to whether West posted bail or if someone else bailed him out. The arrest has left many members of the NBA community saddened.
Despite the fact that friends, family members, former teammates and even Mark Cuban have all tried to help the NBA vet get back on track, he has continued to struggle.

What happened to Delonte West?
The question "What happened to Delonte West?" is one that has been raised time and time again in recent years. Throughout his incredibly public battle with addiction, many have wondered at what point he began to struggle both physically and financially.
What some may not remember is that during the 2011 NBA lockout, West wound up applying for a job at Home Depot before working at a furniture store.
While many accused him of wasting his money, West also notably bought homes for both his parents and helped other friends and family members financially. He briefly mentioned the situation in a video this summer taken by a woman who was approached by West at a drive-through bank.
He recalled at the time that rather than investing his money, he took care of family members and their kids, paying for houses and colleges. He was quick to add that he stands on his own two feet and never wanted anything in return for his help, even during his times of struggle.
It's something Delonte West has continued to maintain in recent years. Just this summer, when a passerby recognized West panhandling, the NBA vet explained that he's in between jobs but wants to make money for his kids. Fortunately, not long after that, West landed a job with a flooring company.
West was also vying for a spot in Ice Cube's Big3 league. However, after earning a spot in the league's tryouts, he didn't make the final cut. As many speculated, not making the final cut likely could have been tough for West to come to terms with.
