The Miami Heat took on the Houston Rockets on Sunday night, and the game wasn't without its share of drama. In the final minute, with Miami holding a five-point lead, a fight erupted between Amen Thompson and Tyler Herro.

Herro and Thompson exchanged words before getting tangled up, grabbing each other's jerseys. The altercation escalated when Thompson threw Herro to the floor by his jersey. The benches swiftly cleared as players from both sides rushed in to break up the confrontation.

Former Houston Rockets guard and two-time NBA Champion, Vernon Maxwell, took to social media to defend Amen Thompson, referring to Tyler Herro as "Machine Gun Kelly".

"Someone tell Machine Gun Kelly to leave Amen Thompson alone," Maxwell posted to X.

Vernon Maxwell also offered to pay the fine that Thompson is likely to receive from the NBA.

"I love me some Amen Thompson. Put his fine on my tab Rockets. And I'll take care of anyone else's fine that stands up for their Rockets teammates."

Maxwell spent six of his 13 NBA seasons in Houston and played a crucial role in the team's back-to-back title runs in 1993-94 and 1994-95.

The altercation resulted in several ejections, with Amen Thompson, Jalen Green, Ben Sullivan, Ime Udoka and Terry Rozier all being thrown out of the game with 35 seconds remaining. Suspensions and fines are likely to follow, with Thompson likely labeled as the aggressor.

Tyler Herro, Miami Heat top Rockets

Despite the late-game altercation, Tyler Herro and the Miami Heat mustered a 104-100 win over the Houston Rockets on the road. Herro torched Houston for 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting, connecting on three of his seven 3-point attempts. He also added nine assists and six rebounds in the All-Star caliber individual effort.

Haywood Highsmith, Bam Adebayo, Terry Rozier and Nikola Jovic also stepped up in the victory. Adebayo notched a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double despite a tough shooting night. Highsmith added 15 points and eight rebounds, Rozier scored 14 points and Jovic added 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists off the bench.

Amen Thompson finished with five points, five rebounds and five assists at the time of his ejection in the fourth quarter. Miami won for a third time in their last four games, moving to 16-14 on the season. Houston fell to 21-11, dropping their second consecutive game.
