Looking at how both teams have played leading up to Tuesday's France vs Canada game

Leading up to Tuesday's France vs Canada game, both teams had found success through the Group Phase. After finishing third in the FIBA World Cup last summer, Canada built on their moment, going 2-1 in their three international friendlies leading up to the 2024 Paris Olympics, with their lone loss coming to Team USA.

After losing their first international friendly of the summer to Team USA, Canada picked up back-to-back wins, defeating France on Jul. 19 before picking up a ten-point win over Puerto Rico on Jul. 21.

Once the Group Phase of play tipped off in Paris, the team rattled off three wins while going undefeated in Paris. Their first win came against Greece on Jul. 27, with RJ Barrett leading the team in scoring with 23 points, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 21.

The team then picked up a 93-83 win over Australia in their second Group Phase game before then picking up a narrow 88-85 win over Spain on Aug. 2 where OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 20 points.

On the flip side, France struggled through their six international friendly games, going just 2-4 leading up to the Olympics. After back-to-back wins over Turkiye and Germany, the team lost four straight.

Once the Paris Olympics tipped off, the team found its rhythm, defeating Brazil in their opening game, thanks to 19-point outings from Nic Batum and Victor Wembanyama.

The hosts followed up with a narrow win over Japan in overtime, where Victor Wembanyama again led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

In its final game of the group phase, France fell to Germany, who entered the Olympics as the 2023 FIBA World Cup champions, setting the stage for Tuesday's France vs Canada playoff game.
