Franz Wagner led the way for Germany in its 76-63 win over Greece in the quarterfinals of the men's basketball tournament of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Wagner finished with a team-high 18 points plus three rebounds, two assists and three steals.
The Orlando Magic star did damage inside the arc, going 7-for-11 from the 2-point field. He struggled from beyond the arc, making just one out of six attempts. But it didn't matter, as the reigning FIBA World Champions advanced to the semifinals.
Wagner has been the best player for Germany in the tournament, helping them finish the group stage with a perfect record. He will look to take his nation to another final if they get past France or Canada in the semifinals.

Despite the comfortable win, Germany was reeling in the first quarter against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece. The Germans were down by as many as 12 points in the first period but kept on playing their game and got back in the second quarter.
Dennis Schroder had 13 points and eight assists, including a logo 3-point shot with under two minutes remaining to put the game to rest. Johannes Thiemann was the only other German player in double figures, with 10 points and six rebounds. Isaac Bonga added nine points and six rebounds, while Moritz Wagner scored eight points in 14 minutes.
Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo gave it his all for Greece with 22 points, two rebounds and three assists. Kostas Papanikolau was the only other player to contribute at least 10 points. It was a rough tournament for the Greeks, but it was still a successful one, as they made it to the knockout phase.
Draymond Green calls Franz Wagner and Germany as biggest threats to Team USA
Franz Wagner has been a breakout star for Germany at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Hall of Famer and Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade became a fan of the Orlando Magic star following his performances this summer.
Another multi-time NBA champion, Draymond Green, complimented Wagner's progress in the Olympics and called Germany the biggest threat to Team USA's quest to win another gold medal.
"Germany has looked, to me, the clear-cut favorite for number two, for the silver medal – the second-best team in the Olympics. Franz Wagner has taken the next step. Dominating," Green said on his podcast. (H/T Sports Illustrated)
Green also correctly predicted Germany's double-digit win over Greece and even claimed that the FIBA World Champions would make it to the final against LeBron James' Team USA.
