LeBron James and Stephen Curry will be playing alongside each other for Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics for the first time ever. After years of battling in the NBA Finals against each other, Curry and James will be fortifying the American squad in defending their Olympic throne next month.

In a Team USA scrimmage, fans had a glimpse of what to expect from James and Curry on the Olympic floor. In one play, James dished out a bounce pass for Curry, who then made a catch-and-shoot three with no defenders near him.

The play seemingly proved an earlier report that LeBron James, who will be participating in his fourth Olympics, will be used as a point forward — a hybrid of point guard and a forward — while Curry will play off the ball with Team USA.

James is expected to initiate the offense, similar to his role with the LA Lakers in the past five years. Curry’s movement shooting, meanwhile, will be utilized heavily in the team, whose head coach Steve Kerr is also Curry’s longtime coach with the Golden State Warriors.

With their play styles fitting with each other, fans speculated about the potential of them playing together, not just in the national team, but also in the NBA with the Lakers.

“Future Laker teammates,” said one fan.
“2025 Lakers 🔜,” wrote another fan.
“It could all be so simple,” said another fan.

Meanwhile, other fans made up hypothetical trade deals that could bring Curry and James to a single team before the latter retires from the sport.

“Dlo for curry, who says no??,” said one fan.
“If the Warriors go to the Lakers rn and say Bronny for Curry do you think bron says yes?,” said one fan.
“Why can’t we just trade everyone and the water boy just so we can have Bron and Steph 💔,” another fan said.

Aside from LeBron James and Steph Curry, Team USA is full of NBA superstars in their 12-man roster, including Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Bam Adebayo, Devin Booker, Joel Embiid, Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, Tyrese Haliburton, and Anthony Davis.

Teaming up with LeBron James is a “surreal” feeling for Steph Curry

LeBron James and Steph Curry fought against each other in four straight NBA Finals from 2015 to 2018. While they were teammates in the All-Star Game, they have never been teammates in any competitive setting.

For Curry, having James on his team is a “surreal” feeling, made more special knowing it is for their country,

"To have LeBron as a teammate is surreal, because you have so many battles back and forth, you admire his game, you know what he's about, and to see the work up close and personal every day, to see how he prepares, how he talks in practice, I've never had that vantage point of him," Curry said in an interview with Yahoo Sports' Vincent Goodwill.

Steph Curry won three of his four NBA titles against LeBron James, while the Lakers star took down Curry’s Warriors in 2016 while he was with the Cavs.

Curry is about six years younger than James so this could be the last time they ever play together as teammates as James signed a two-year contract with the Lakers in the offseason.

With Team USA, they are expected to be a lethal duo that could dominate the world’s top teams in the Olympics.
