Luka Doncic was unquestionably the best player for the Dallas Mavericks in his first NBA Finals appearance, but his 3-point shooting left much to be desired. Fans criticized his poor performance from beyond the arc as the Boston Celtics defeated his Mavericks in Game 5, 106-88, to clinch the championship.

Doncic started strong in his first Finals run, hitting four triples in 12 attempts in Game 1 and four triples in nine attempts in Game 2. However, his accuracy declined significantly, making just one of seven attempts in Game 3 and going 0-for-8 in Game 4.

In Game 5, he only made two of nine attempts, leading to ridicule from fans on X (formerly Twitter).

"Generational choke job by Fluka," said user @HimmyButler22.

During the regular season, Doncic averaged 33.9 points, 9.8 assists and 9.2 rebounds while shooting 38.2% from distance. He shot 24.4% from beyond the arc in the Finals.

Some fans speculated that the pressure of the Finals might have gotten to Doncic in his first run.

"Lights are too bright LMAOO," commented @JuniorGotNext.
"Wasn’t there when his team needed him," added @Lebronin1.

However, one fan remained hopeful about Doncic's future performances.

“Tough first Finals for Luka. He had the experience under his belt and will be back,” said @BackbBanter.
