Giannis Antetokounmpo should be in the NBA MVP conversations based on numbers alone, but the Milwaukee Bucks have been subpar this season. Antetokounmpo and the Bucks welcomed the red-hot Minnesota Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards, on Tuesday at Fiserv Forum.

"The Greek Freak" is averaging 30.5 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game this season. However, the Bucks are languishing as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference and could even drop as low as sixth if they don't finish the regular season strong.

But how did Antetokounmpo perform in his showdown against "Ant-Man" on Tuesday night? He had another triple-double, dropping 23 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists as the Bucks completed a 24-point turnaround in the fourth quarter to get the 110-103 win.

How did Giannis Antetokounmpo perform against the Timberwolves?

Giannis Antetokounmpo seems to have reached a different level this season at the right time for the Milwaukee Bucks. Antetokounmpo had another triple-double on Tuesday in their win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. He managed to score just six points in the first two quarters before finishing with 23 overall.

However, it was his playmaking that was key in the Bucks' come-from-behind win against Minnesota. They were down by 24 in the fourth quarter, but they outscored the visitors 40-13 to earn the seven-point victory.

Antetokounmpo has been the team's point guard with Damian Lillard still recovering from a blood clot in his thigh. He carried the Bucks on his shoulders, while also delegating to his teammates.

Bobby Portis had 18 points and 10 rebounds in his first game back from suspension, while Kevin Porter Jr. added 21 points off the bench. Brook Lopez and Taurean Prince each had 10 points.

Giannis Antetokounmpo named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

After leading the Milwaukee Bucks to a 4-0 record in Week 24, Giannis Antetokounmpo was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Antetokounmpo averaged 36.0 ppg, 12.3 rpg and 13.7 apg in four games. It was also his third Player of the Week honor this season, winning it in Weeks 5 and 13.

The cream of the crop of Antetokounmpo’s week was an astonishing performance against the Philadelphia 76ers. He had a historic stat line of 35 points, 17 rebounds and 20 assists in a 126-113 win. It’s the first 35-15-20 game in the NBA ever.

While Antetokounmpo is still considered among the best players in the world today, he’s not being talked about as an MVP candidate. He’ll likely get votes and could finish third again, but the race this season will be between Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic.
