Gilbert Arena’s ex, Laura Govan, praised JuJu Watkins for her charity work during the holiday season. Watkins took to her Instagram on Thursday and posted about her Christmas charity run where she distributed basketball shoes, sports attires and meals to children.

It was the USC star’s way of thanking her fans for their support as she continues her excellent career with the Trojans.

“spreading holiday joy! 🥰 special thanks to our partners @nike @mielleorganics @chipotle @nyxcosmetics @djmalski 🫶🏽,” Watkins captioned.

Govan has been on the basketball scene. She was married to former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas. They have four children together, including their eldest daughter Izela, who is becoming one of the country's top high school basketball players.

Govan also has a background in basketball, having played for New Mexico State University during her college days.

Meanwhile, Watkins is one of the top women's college players. The versatile guard has been leading the No. 4-ranked USC Trojans, averaging 24.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.

However, she will have to wait until 2027 to be eligible for the WNBA draft, as she has to finish at least four years of college, per league rules.

JuJu Watkins thinks women’s basketball players should have a choice to go immediately

The rule that prevents JuJu Watkins from entering the WNBA draft after just a couple of years in college has been a big topic of discussion. Watkins has since voiced what she thinks of the rule and why it needs to be abolished.

“I definitely think we should have the option," Watkins said on Dec. 19, via the 'Good Game With Sarah Spain' podcast. "There's just been such a growth in college basketball where it's like, why would you want to leave? Because you're able to have that experience and build your brand here in college as well.
"I would definitely say we should have the option but I think college is a way to prepare us for the pros as well. So, I don't know. It's a touchy subject, but I'm for it.”

Watkins is expected to be the top pick of the 2027 WNBA draft. She will still have this season and two more campaigns to hone her craft further under USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb.
