Gilbert Arenas' ex-girlfriend Laura Govan hyped LeBron James' mother, Gloria James after the Lakers star revealed her role in one of his major business deals. As a high school player, LeBron was coveted by multiple shoe brands, including Reebok, Adidas and Nike, who he ultimately signed with.

However, LeBron had lucrative deals on offer, namely from Reebok. The four-time NBA champion revealed on Tavis Kelce and Jason Kelce's "New Heights" podcast that he almost chose Reebok over Nike.

In the interview released on Wednesday, James said,

"I did an adidas pitch, I did a Reebok pitch, I did a Nike pitch, the best pitch that I got where I thought I was going to end up was actually at Reebok," LeBron told the Kelce brothers.

He revealed the offer was $10 million, but Reebok's CEO had one condition.

"The guy slides over a check to me at the end of the table, it's me and my mom and Maverick Carter, and [Reebok CEO Paul Fireman] says, 'If you don't go talk to any other companies, this is yours.'"

However, LeBron James' mom's advice to him was to trust his gut.

"My mom looked at it, and me and my mom were living in an apartment, Section 8 housing in Akron, and my mum looked at me, she says 'Son trust your gut, if they're offering you this then who knows what the other companies may offer you.'"

Ultimately, LeBron thanked Reebok and told them he would discuss offers with other companies. He eventually signed with Nike. It seemingly proved to be the right call. He became one of the premier athletes representing the brand and even landed a lifetime deal worth $1 billion.

Gilbert Arenas' ex-girlfriend Laura Govan, a mother of four herself, all with the former NBA player, dropped a three-word reaction for LeBron James' mom's decision.

"A mother's work!" Govan wrote on Instagram.

Gilbert Arena's ex-Laura Govan claimed her uncle helped LeBron James secure a lifetime deal with Nike

LeBron James is one of the four active players in the NBA who have a lifetime deal with a shoe company. Damian Lillard was the latest addition to that exclusive club, including Kevin Durant (Nike) and Steph Curry (Under Armour/Curry Brand).

LeBron, Lillard and Durant were all represented by Laura Govan's uncle, Aaron Goodwin, at different junctures of their careers. Goodwin only represents Lillard currently, and he was key in negotiating his lifetime deal with Adidas.

Laura Govan's post claimed Goodwin also helped negotiate LeBron and Durant's deal. However, that wasn't the case. Goodwin and LeBron parted ways in 2005. He was represented by CAA's Leon Rose until 2012. The former Cavaliers star chose to link up with his friend and current agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, in 2012. LeBron signed the lifetime deal in 2015 when Paul was his agent.

Meanwhile, Durant and Goodwin went their separate ways in 2012. The Suns superstar signed his deal in 2023 with Rich Kleiman.

However, Aaron Goodwin helped LeBron James negotiate a $90 million contract with Nike, and he was Kevin Durant's agent when the player signed his first deal with Nike as a rookie in 2007.
