Gilbert Arenas and his ex, Laura Govan, are supportive of their four children's hoops endeavors. This weekend, Govan gushed with pride as their second child Alijah put on yet another scoring masterpiece for Chatsworth High in Los Angeles.

Although Chatsworth absorbed a 61-60 loss to Long Beach Poly, the story coming out of the game was Alijah's 40-point performance. His mother offered high praise for his scoring prowess in an Instagram story.

In this Chatsworth-Long Beach Poly game — part of the annual showcase known as the Real Run Winter Classic — Alijah displayed impeccable range and footwork as well as the ability to put the ball on the floor. On several possessions, he brought out a bag of tricks to elude defenders — indeed, a bag reminiscent of Agent Zero's heyday.

Over the past few weeks, the 6-foot-6 Alijah has proven to be a tireless scoring machine. At the high school tournament known as the Damien Classic, Alijah turned heads when he dropped 56 in an overtime loss to Arizona-based Prescott High.

"Easy work," podcaster and one-time NBA champion Matt Barnes said of Alijah's 56-point outing.

Then, before 2024 came to a close, Alijah dropped 43 in Chatsworth's game against Etiwanda — a game in which Gilbert and his girlfriend, Melli Monaco, were in attendance.

Gilbert Arenas helped Alijah hone his skills through tough love

For those wondering how Alijah has managed to play at a consistently high level, they need to look no further than his father, a three-time All-Star who played for 11 years in the NBA.

Appearing on the Dec. 4 episode of "The Pivot Podcast," Arenas spoke about the need to instill the right mindset for his son to succeed.

"You have to create this tiger-like instinct just for survival," Agent Zero said. "That's what I had to do with him."

Arenas said that he'd put Alijah in five-on-one situations with older kids to bring out the fullest extent of his son's skills. It should be no surprise, then, that Alijah gets buckets with ease in his high school career, en route to a promising college stint and exciting NBA prospects.
