During his prime, Gilbert Arenas was one of the deadliest and most feared scorers in the NBA. His career got off to a meteoric rise before his well-documented fall off.

His son is trying to replicate his steps. Alijah Arenas is one of the biggest stars in high school and he knows that he has to study the greats to become like them in the future.

In an interview with Playback on Sunday, Alijah was asked about his favorite players to watch. Notably, he chose James Harden at No. 1.

Gilbert then jokingly called out Harden, who has a net worth of $165 million (per Celebrity Net Worth), for having Alijah on his payroll.

"u have him on the payroll. All he know is harden," Gilbert commented.

James Harden wants to mentor Gilbert Arenas' son Alijah

Alijah Arenas' passion for James Harden's game is no coincidence. It seems like he has studied it thoroughly and has incorporated some of his moves into his repertoire.

On Nov. 25, Harden admitted that the resemblance in their games was uncanny, as he watched Arenas play during the summer and saw himself in him.

The former NBA MVP also offered to take him under his wing and help him develop his game.

“I saw Alijah this summer,” Harden said, via The Hoop Spill. “He reminded me of myself in the sense that he played against pros while still in high school. “I just spoke to him and said, ‘If you ever need anything, reach out, and we can train together.’ He’s a true student of the game.”

Arenas has dominated his competition at the high school level, and he's making the most of the resources at his disposal to also make it to the NBA.

It takes more than just talent to make it to the league, but with the blueprint his father and some of his colleagues have laid out for him, it won't be surprising to see him in the NBA soon.
