Gilbert Arenas's ex-girlfriend Laura Govan delivers 4-word statement on son Alijah Arenas's prospects

Alijah Arenas, the eldest son of Gilbert Arenas and his former girlfriend Laura Govan, continues to grab the eyeballs as he plays out his final year of high school basketball. A week ago, he reclassified from junior to senior and Govan shared her excitement for the Chatsworth basketball star on Instagram following that decision.

The TV personality posted some highlights of her son on her Instagram story on Saturday and said:

“He’s the REAL Deal”

The highlights she shared were from a game in which Alijah Arenas's Chatsworth faced off against Crespi High on Friday. Arenas was limited to 13 points in the first half as his school trailed by seven points at halftime. The 6-foot-4 star bounced back with a strong second half to take Chatsworth to victory.

He scored 22 points in the second half to drag the Chancellors to a 77-72 win over the Celts. Chatsworth improved its record to 6-0 following the victory while Crespi dropped to 7-4.

After the game, Alijah Arenas had this to say, per Los Angeles Daily News:

“This means a lot. This really boosts our confidence. I really feel like this is our big step moving forward as a team. This is what we really needed to stay locked in and know what we can do.”

Laura Govan regularly praises Alijah Arenas on Instagram

Laura Govan’s Instagram story was only the latest praise she showered her son with, on the social media platform. She celebrates her son's biggest achievements on Instagram and in June when the Chatsworth High hooper was a finalist on the USA men’s basketball u17 team, Govan took to Instagram to say:

“Proud MOMMY Moment ~ #USA is A Great & BIG deal. It’s the Beginning Of A Mile Stone That’s Unmatched Staying Humble Working Your A** Off N Just Simply Playing A Game YOU Love is Everything… Keep Killing Kid … Your Up Next Papa”

The names on the finalist squad included some of the best high school basketball stars like Cayden Boozer, Cameron Boozer and AJ Dybantsa. Arenas did not make the cut for the 12-man roster that represented Team USA at the FIBA u17 World Cup in Istanbul this summer.
