The clip the actor reacted to showed Arenas explaining his decision to reclassify:
“I feel like it’s just a better step for me in my process and my development,” the shooting guard said.
The hooper also opened up about the discussion he had with his parents about jumping one year ahead to college:
“They [the talks] were actually pretty recent. It was kinda like, ‘What do you wanna do?’ So for me, I had to make a really big decision and I feel like this was the one. I feel like my family agrees and they are on board.”
The former Wizards star and Laura Govan often update fans about Alijah Arenas’ high school basketball career on their respective social media accounts. When Alijah won the John R. Wooden Award as the High School Player of the Year, Govan posted a photo of him holding the award on Instagram.
Gilbert Arenas’ son with Laura Govan, Alijah Arenas, isn’t in a hurry to pick a school in college
In an interview with reporter Tarek Fattal, Alijah Arenas was asked about potential schools to play for at the next level. Alijah had this to say when asked if he has a favorite school to play for:
"I don't have a dream school ... I haven't discovered that (list of schools) yet, but really looking into it ... I'll narrow things down the further we get into 2025."
The guard added that he’s ready for the recruitment process, but would not skip steps. He described the factors could entice him to pick a program:
"I want to know what the program is doing to motivate (its players) to want to win. If I find that, I enjoy that and really love that, then I'll want to hop on board and see if we can win."
