The Golden State Warriors faced off against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday as part of the final group game of the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup. The Warriors have already qualified for the knockout round, while the Nuggets need a win and other teams to lose to make it past the group stage.
Denver was hoping for the Dallas Mavericks, OKC Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers to lose their respective games. They also needed to win the tiebreakers by beating Golden State by at least 16 points in regulation. That didn't happen as the Mavericks and Thunder won their respective NBA Cup games.
Nevertheless, the Nuggets defeated the Warriors in a back-and-forth game. Nikola Jokic led the way with 38 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals. Steph Curry had 24 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists as Golden State suffered their fifth straight defeat.

In the third quarter, the Golden State Warriors didn't make their daunted run as the Denver Nuggets battled them toe-to-toe. The Nuggets' defense stepped up after playing badly on that end in their past few games. Julian Strawther hit a crucial shot at the end of the period to give Denver a five-point advantage.
The Warriors turned things around to start the fourth quarter, building a 10-point lead with seven minutes left in regulation. Michael Porter Jr. gave the Nuggets momentum before turning to Nikola Jokic to take over.
"The Joker" had six points in the last three minutes as their defense locked up the Warriors in the final 2:32. Golden State was stuck at 115 for the rest of the game as Denver earned its 11th win of the season.
The Nuggets might have won the game, but they failed to make it to the next round of the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup. They will have a few days off during the knockout stages of the tournament before the regular season resumes afterward.
On the other hand, the Warriors advanced since they topped the group and will have an opportunity to win their first NBA Cup. The only problem for Golden State is they don't have any momentum since they are on a five-game losing streak.
