The Houston Rockets broke a long losing streak against the Golden State Warriors to secure a spot in the Emirates NBA Cup semifinals.
The Warriors had already beaten the Rockets twice this season — a 99-93 win last week and then a 127-121 overtime victory in November. Golden State also boasted a dominant 15-game win streak over Houston, with the Rockets' last win against them before tonight coming in February 2020.
The game was tightly contested, but the Rockets clinched the victory with crucial free throws from Jalen Green and a game-sealing block by Jabari Smith Jr. Alperen Şengün led the Rockets with 26 points, while Smith and Green contributed 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Jonathan Kuminga topped the Warriors’ scoring with 20 points, while Steph Curry and Buddy Hield added 19 and 15 points, respectively.

Golden State Warriors vs Houston Rockets game summary
Points were hard to come by early, with the Rockets narrowly leading the Warriors 20-18 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Rockets found their rhythm, building a lead as large as 14 points while their defense kept the Warriors in check.
But the Warriors rallied behind contributions from multiple players, cutting the deficit to seven by halftime, 44-37.
At the break, Steph Curry and Jonathan Kuminga each had 10 points, while Alperen Sengun led all scorers with 14 points.
Buddy Hield caught fire in the third quarter, sinking three 3-pointers for 11 points in the period. The Warriors shot an impressive 14-for-24 (54%) in the quarter, outscoring the Rockets 32-24.
The fourth quarter was tightly contested, but the Warriors pulled ahead by six points with three minutes left. Houston, however, rallied late, with Fred VanVleet knocking down a clutch 3-pointer and Sengun adding a layup to cut the deficit to one.
In the final seconds, Jalen Green came up with a huge steal and drew a foul from Jonathan Kuminga, sending him to the free-throw line. Green calmly sank both shots to put the Rockets ahead.
The Warriors had one last chance at the buzzer, but Brandin Podziemski’s three-point attempt was blocked by Jabari Smith Jr., sealing the victory for Houston. The Rockets now advance to face the OKC Thunder in the semifinals in Las Vegas.
