Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams shared details about how LA Lakers rookie Bronny James won the Call of Duty Modern Warfare III against him. While the NBA Summer League took place in Las Vegas, an online gaming competition also occurred. Williams finished second, next to James.
James finally won something in the Summer League, albeit in a video game. He took home a custom-made Call of Duty championship belt and a cash prize of $10,000. Fans were curious about the rookie's victory, as one fan tagged Williams on X (formerly Twitter) and asked how the youngster was able to win. Regarding this, the veteran forward gave props to James, tweeting:
"Didn’t get the chance to due to hard stop @ 8pm. I set the new high and got up so they could have opportunity to beat in last 10 min. Bronny had an insane clutch in his last game and beat me by one kill with 15 sec left. Exactly what gaming is about and competition!!"

While it has been hard for him to win on the basketball court, Bronny James' off-court win could help him refocus and find his rhythm. During the California Classic Summer League games, James struggled to be impactful. He appeared in two games, averaging 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in 25 minutes per game.
In Las Vegas, he doubled his scoring and finished with eight points and five rebounds. However, he still hasn't found his stroke and made only 3 of 14 shots from the field and failed all eight attempts from beyond the arc.
Ronnie2K teased Bronny James on his NBA 2K rating
In this age, players worry about their NBA 2K rating often. Although it is only a video game feature, it is a big deal for many players in the league. During Bronny James' Summer League debut, the rookie was teased by Ronnie2K regarding his rating on the game.
The Marketing Director for the company sat courtside during the Lakers' game against the Houston Rockets. As James was walking on the court, Ronnie2K brandished an envelope.
The envelope possibly contained James' rating for the next installment of the game, NBA 2K25. Pre-orders for the game started on July 10, with a release date set for Sept. 6, 2024.
