Has the identity of the Chris Beard assault victim been revealed yet?

Chris Beard, Illinois vs. Texas

Texas basketball head coach Chris Beard was arrested early Monday morning. He is currently being accused of domestic violence against a family member and is facing a third-degree felony charge.

Chris Beard, 49, has been an NCAA head coach since 2015. After one year at Little Rock, he went on to coach Texas Tech for five seasons. Beard has been with Texas since 2021 and has a career record of 29-13.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office detention records does not mention who Chris Beard allegedly assaulted. In other words, the victim's name has not been officially revealed yet.

The basketball coach recently divorced his wife Leslie Beard, who is an author and journalist with a net worth of around five million dollars. Leslie had been married to Chris Beard since the summer of 1996.

Following his divorce, Beard started dating a different woman; back in 2019, he confirmed that he was with Randi Trew. She was the women's volleyball coach at Texas Tech and now coaches high school.

Unfortunately, the Texas program has little time to address and handle this situation. The basketball team is set to take on Rice at 7 pm Monday.

Texas has already come out with a statement saying they are aware of the arrest and are continuing to gather information.

This marks the second assault-related case to which the Texas men's basketball team has been connected. In June, freshman guard Arterio Morris was arrested after an alleged altercation with his ex-girlfriend.

Does Chris Beard have any children?

During his marriage to Leslie, Chris Beard had three children. The two have three daughters, Avery, Ella, and Margo.

Since the divorce, the couple share joint custody of the girls. That being said, reports indicate that the children mainly live with Leslie.

According to TMZ, the police were called to the Beard residence shortly after midnight for a "disturbance." A few hours later, Beard was arrested for "assault on family/household member impede breath circulation."

Since the arrest, there has been minimal new information regarding the allegations.

Given the wording on the records, any of these women could potentially be the victim of the assault. Per ESPN, Beard's attorney has given a statement regarding the arrest. He says his client is innocent and should be released.

"He should never have been arrested," Minton told the paper. "The complainant wants him released immediately and all charges dismissed. It is truly inconceivable."

Beard's attorney, Perry Minton, told the Austin American-Statesman that Beard "is 100% innocent of these charges."
