LeBron James and the LA Lakers had some serious business to attend to 5,280 feet above sea level. They were in the Denver Nuggets’ lair for Game 1 of their Western Conference first-round series, a rematch of last year’s conference finals. The Lakers will try to get the monkey off their back against a team they have not beaten in eight straight meetings.
James and his teammates know they have to have laser focus for a chance of stealing home-court advantage away from the Nuggets. Anything less than 100% concentration, determination and near-flawless execution of the game plan will likely result in another L. The Lakers showed they were ready before the game even started.
LeBron James pulled into the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado looking ominous. He was garbed in an all-black ensemble that was capped off by a Nike x Stussy Air Force 1 Low sneakers. The fashion statement may have something to do with what he intends to do in the game.

Basketball fans on X, formerly Twitter, quickly reacted to the LA Lakers superstar's look:
“He on demon time”
As expected, someone couldn’t resist trolling the four-time MVP:
“Good to see LeBron show up for his funeral”
Somehow, a fan had to drag Lakers coach Darvin Ham into the scene:
“Damn, this is that Ham angle from the locker room lol”
One fan may have given the description LeBron James would have loved:
“Assassin”
LeBron James has some unfinished business with the Nuggets
After all the ribbing the Denver Nuggets did to the LA Lakers during their championship parade, LeBron James and Anthony Davis were pissed. AD admitted he and James talked about it during the offseason and said he and the four-time MVP couldn’t wait to face the defending champs. When they got that opportunity to open the season, the Lakers wilted 119-107 after watching their rivals raise the championship banner.
On Saturday night, they returned to Mile High City for another shot at the Nuggets in Game 1 of their first-round series. James looked ominous before tip-off and carried that into the game. He lit up Denver with 19 points, including a 28-footer that gave LA a 60-57 halftime advantage.
There is still a lifetime of basketball left to be played. And, if there’s one clutch team that has had the Lakers’ number, it has been Nikola Jokic’s crew. LeBron James has stashed away the all-black gear but the aura and deadly display can’t fizzle. Los Angeles badly needs him to retain it. Otherwise, it will likely be another sorry loss to the champs.
