The Boston Celtics are once again at the pinnacle of the NBA after winning their 18th championship, and former Celtic Paul Pierce could not contain his excitement. While celebrating Boston's victory over the Dallas Mavericks on "Undisputed", he made a bold claim regarding Jaylen Brown.

Pierce told Skip Bayless that Brown is not only the best player on the Celtics roster, but he is also the best player in the world.

This bold claim from Pierce, as well as the way he said it, had fans clowning him on X/Twitter:

"He has to be drunk," @theraymnd tweeted.
"Is this dude on crack?" asked @AlphaMaleChad96.
"Piss poor laughable take," @bolpap5 added.

Meanwhile, aside from simply clowning Pierce, other fans took the time to counter his statement regarding Jaylen Brown:

"Best player on the Celtics, not in the world lmao," @NineteenPromis1 said.
"Cap. He's not even top 10 Paul," @MLSwish chimed in.
"So now its Jaylen Brown. LOL. I love JB but really?" @HeyHeyPaula10 asked.

Paul Pierce praises Derrick White and Jrue Holiday as best backcourt in the league today

While speaking with Bayless on "Undisputed", Pierce also gave special, and perhaps bold, praise to the Boston Celtics backcourt duo of Jrue Holiday and Derrick White.

Pierce said that the Celtics duo is also the best backcourt in the league right now, whether that is on the defensive or offensive side of the ball. Pierce further claimed that GMs would take the Celtics backcourt duo over the Mavericks' backcourt of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Throughout the 2024 NBA Finals, veteran guard Jrue Holiday averaged 14.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He was also efficient with the ball, shooting 53.6% from the field and only turning the ball over 1.4 times per game despite being one of the primary ballhandlers.

Derrick White also made great contributions to the Celtics in their championship run. In the Finals alone, he averaged 13.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.6 apg 1.2 spg and 1.0 bpg.

This also happens to be Holiday's second NBA title after he won one with the Milwaukee Bucks back in 2021, while it is the first for White and the rest of the Celtics.

Paul Pierce certainly had some high praise for this current Celtics squad who brought home the franchise's first NBA title since 2008, a squad that consisted of Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and Pierce himself.

Notably, Paul Pierce was named the Finals MVP that series after he helped lead the team over Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers in six games. Jaylen Brown picked up the Finals MVP trophy in 2024.
