LA Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell attempted to speak Mandarin on media day and fans had a field day making fun of him. Russell is back with the Lakers for his third season after getting traded back in 2023. The point guard has tried his best to please the fans but hasn't been successful.

There were moments last season when fans begged the team to trade the veteran point guard. However, the Lakers kept him for the franchise's future.

This time, he's preparing for another season with the Purple & Gold. During media day, Russell greeted Lakers fans from across the globe by speaking Mandarin.

D'Angelo Russell shares what happened last season

Last season wasn't the best for the Lakers. The team still made it to the postseason but struggled to secure their spot. D'Angelo Russell spoke about the situation within the team.

"I think last year, we didn't really have the structure defensively that we needed as a team," Russell said. "That kinda hurt me a little bit, tryna help my teammates."

But Russell is excited to play for their new head coach, JJ Redick.

"But like I said, JJ's trying to push structure everywhere and I think that's what we need."

D'Angelo Russell and the Lakers are hoping to perform better than the previous season.
