Team USA star Jayson Tatum was targeted by fans after LeBron James and Co. won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics by defeating France 98-87 in the final on Saturday. After the tournament, NBA analyst Jason Timpf pointed out Tatum's poor shooting display with Team USA in the quadrennial competition and exhibition games combined.
The Boston Celtics superstar failed to make any of his jump shots during his stint with Team USA. The 26-year-old forward went 0-for-16 on jump shots across with Team USA.
Fans reacted to the eye-opening stat and roasted the reigning NBA champion. One of the fans compared Tatum to Brooklyn Nets' Ben Simmons, who is reluctant to take jump shots.

"He’s in his Ben Simmons era. He has the yips."
One of the fans questioned Tatum's ability to perform in clutch situations.
"If you watch closely.. you will know he’s not elite ELITE. Tatum is not a player you can defer a clutch bucket too..he’s not built like that but respect to his athleticism."
"Let’s see how many he makes when the games are meaningful again," commented another X user.
Another fan took a dig at Tatum by using the Celtics superstar's comments which he made after winning the NBA Finals.
“Everyone wanted to know what I would do if I made a jump shot in Paris…I GUESS WE’LL NEVER KNOW”
"So he was carried to a gold medal just like Jaylen carried him to an NBA chip. No surprise here," said another fan.

Jayson Tatum's lack of playing time in Olympics
It was a topsy-turvy tournament for Jayson Tatum. The five-time NBA All-Star won his second Olympic medal but on an individual aspect, Tatum would have hoped more playing time.
The 26-year-old received a DNP in two games, first against Serbia in the group stage and then against the same opposition in the semifinal.
Coach Steve Kerr played Tatum in the final against France. The 26-year-old scored two points on 1-of-3 shooting from the field, including 0-of-1 from the three-point range in 11 minutes.
Tatum finished his campaign averaging 5.3 points on 38.1% shooting from the floor in 17.7 minutes per game. The star forward took four shots from beyond the arc and failed to make any of his attempts.
Tatum also averaged 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, one steal and 0.5 blocks per game.
