A clip of Philadelphia 76ers star guard Tyrese Maxey working on his handle recently went viral on social media. Maxey's intense offseason training and apparent weight gain left NBA fans in awe as they projected him to take another leap next season.
Despite coming off his first All-Star campaign and winning the NBA's Most Improved Player award, Maxey is still only 23. Thus, he could still be a few years away from his prime.
Maxey is set to be part of a Big 3 in Philly alongside superstar big man Joel Embiid and newly acquired star wing Paul George. So, Year 5 of his career could mark his best shot at contending for a championship thus far.
On Monday, a clip of Maxey completing a ball handling drill against high-pressure, physical defense made the rounds on X/Twitter.

Many fans pointed out that he looked noticeably stronger since the end of this past season.
"He definitely is up 10-plus pounds," @30_Dynasty said.
"Bro got huge, WTF," @cryptomuse said.
"He got swole ASF. Superstar leap incoming," @sixersin1 said.
Meanwhile, others offered the Sixers star high praise, proclaiming him one of the league's top players.
"Best guard in the East," @phisportfanatic said.
"All-NBA second team, OML," @1_TOBIAS_HATER said.
Some also questioned why Maxey was omitted from Team USA's 12-man roster for this summer's Paris Olympics in favor of Boston Celtics guard Derrick White.
"Why wasn’t he on Team USA? He’s better than Derrick White," @thaofficialkat said.
Tyrese Maxey on his desire to win a title with Philly
Tyrese Maxey's viral offseason workout video came one day before his and Paul George's Tuesday press conference.
While George signed a four-year, $212 million maximum contract to join Philly this offseason, Maxey was rewarded with a five-year, $204 million contract extension.
During his welcome-back press conference, he highlighted his desire to win a title with the Sixers.
"I just want to keep working extremely hard and bring a championship and wins to this city," Maxey said.
Tyrese Maxey also noted that he "found a home" with Philly after being drafted No. 21 by the franchise in the 2020 NBA draft.
The Sixers have yet to make an Eastern Conference finals appearance since 2001. Meanwhile, their last championship came in 1983. However, with their core locked under contract, and George's addition, they should be among the biggest challengers to the reigning NBA champion Celtics next season.
