On Saturday, Luka Doncic was traded to the LA Lakers in a move that left everyone stunned. Following this league-altering move, a former NBA player gave his thoughts on the star guard joining the iconic franchise.

Since retiring, Jamal Crawford has shifted to a career in the media. On Sunday, the three-time Sixth Man of the Year joined Shannon Sharpe on his "Nightcap" podcast. Crawford feels that it was a no-brainer for the Lakers to trade for Doncic and that his game is fit for a city like Hollywood.

"Luka is box office," Crawford said (09:10). "We know he's going to bring the Hollywood lights. His game is Hollywood."

Crawford has ties with one key member of the team — Lakers coach JJ Redick. They were teammates during their playing careers as part of the "Lob City" LA Clippers.

Crawford spent two decades in the NBA, last appearing on a roster in 2020 at the age of 39. He is regarded as one of the best bench players in league history. Now an established media personality, his net worth is believed to be around $45 million (per Celebrity Net Worth).

As for Doncic, it remains unclear when he'll make his debut with his new team. The all-star guard has been sidelined since Christmas Day due to a calf strain.

JJ Redick reuniting with Luka Doncic as head coach of the LA Lakers

Midway through his first season as a coach in the NBA, JJ Redick has to navigate a major change to the roster. Luckily for him, integrating Luka Doncic should not be difficult given their history.

One reason why many thought Redick would succeed as a coach is because of his bond with players. Only four years removed from playing, a lot of players in the league have matched up alongside or against him.

Doncic getting dealt to the Lakers is a reunion, as he and Redick have some history together. They were teammates for a brief stint in 2021 after Redick was traded to Dallas from the New Orleans Pelicans.

Having a past relationship should make this transition more seamless, as LA has a lot to figure out. Doncic and LeBron James are two all-around stars who thrive most when the ball is in their hands. The two have to figure out how they're going to coexist.

This dilemma falls on Redick, but at the end of the day, it's a good problem to have. Not only does he have one of the game's best players ever on his roster, but also has the services of a young superstar just entering his prime.
