"He's not just Lebron's son" - NBA insider reveals latest NBA draft outlook for Bronny James after Day 2 of combine

NBA: Combine
Latest NBA draft projection for Bronny James

The son of LeBron James, Bronny James, impressed scouts and onlookers during the second day of the NBA draft combine. During the scrimmage, the young prospect performed better than his first, with 13 points in 23 minutes, leading his team to a win.

Many are expecting significant things from Bronny as he pursues his dream of making it in the NBA. The young guard was one of the top prospects before he suffered an unexpected cardiac arrest last summer. Since then, he's worked his way up to improve his health and performance while he was at USC.

After his performance on his second day of the combine, ESPN draft analyst Jonathan Givony gave an update on Bronny's draft projection. Surprisingly, ESPN has the son of the LA Lakers star as a late second-round pick in the 2024 NBA draft.

"We're gonna have him at 54 in our latest update. ... "Talking to people out here, they feel like he's legitimized himself as a real NBA prospect," Givony said. "He's not just some sideshow, (not just) LeBron's son that the cameras are following him. ... People love his attitude, his enthusiasm, the way he understands what type of player that he is.
"This was a very good week for Bronny James in Chicago."

According to Givony, Bronny's talents are comparable to players like Derrick White, Jrue Holiday and Davion Mitchell.

Although he isn't projected to be a top pick, there's hope that some teams will take an interest in drafting Bronny.

Which teams could draft Bronny James in the second round?

There have been valuable players who have been selected in the second round of the draft in NBA history. Manu Ginobili, Draymond Green and three-time MVP Nikola Jokic all came out of the second round. While no one is sure if that could be Bronny James' path in the league, being drafted in the second round wouldn't be so bad.

So, which teams could draft the young prospect in the second round?

#3, LA Lakers

The Lakers have the 55th pick, a spot below the projected 54th pick. If Bronny's name stays available until late in the draft, LA might not pass on the chance.

#2, San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs could secure Bronny with the 35th pick. After all, they need a point guard who could play well with Victor Wembanyama for next season.

#1, Miami Heat

Acquiring a two-way point guard like Bronny could fit perfectly into Erik Spoelstra's system, as the Miami Heat have the 43rd pick. Additionally, it could lure LeBron back to playing for the South Beach team if they secure a spot for him and his son.
