Bronny James is ready to take the next step in his basketball journey, entering the NBA Draft after a lone season at USC. The 2024 NBA Draft is a couple of weeks away and rumors and speculation haven't stopped since the regular season ended.
Bronny's potential selection has been talked about a lot in NBA circles since there's no clear answer to where he could get drafted. His ceiling remains a big question mark, too, as he only played one season in college without getting a lot of minutes to showcase his talents.
An anonymous NBA scout made a comparison for Bronny James, suggesting that he could be a similar player to Austin Rivers, the son of another former NBA player, Doc Rivers.
“If the Lakers keep their pick, they won’t pass on [Bronny]. He’s a decent player. He’s better than some guys who may get picked ahead of him. He’s solid, not spectacular. He knows how to play. He can handle the ball well enough. If you leave him alone, he’ll drill a three. He reminds me of Austin Rivers as a player, and he’s stayed in the league for over a decade,” the scout told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Austin Rivers was the No. 10 overall pick to the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2012 NBA Draft. That class included Anthony Davis as the first overall selection, Bradley Beal as the third, Damian Lillard as the sixth overall pick.
Rivers played in the NBA from 2012 until 2023. He's currently a free agent after playing with the Minnesota Timberwolves last year.
Bronny James had pre-draft workout with the LA Lakers
With LeBron James playing in Los Angeles, the Lakers have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for the 19-year-old. His father has mentioned more than once his intentions to share the court with his firstborn and he could fulfill that dream next season.
This Thursday, Bronny had a pre-draft workout with the Purple and Gold, with GM Rob Pelinka watching the young guard closely.
Bronny James' draft spot remains a mystery ahead of the draft, as the Lakers and Utah Jazz have been mentioned as potential landing spots for the young player. Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle predicted that Bronny will go higher than No. 55 overall in a hilarious way.
"I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that he goes quite a bit higher than that," Carlisle said. "I’m not going to say who… I’ve been fine enough this year during the playoffs."
