"New Orleans is on a new Level," another fan said.
"They didn’t even trade Brandon Ingram," said one fan who couldn't believe the news.

Meanwhile, Lakers fans were in disarray after finding out about the trade.

"NOOOOOO, HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A LAKER," one fan was in complete shock.
"WHY BRO WHY HE SHOULDVE BEEN A LAKER OMGGG," another fan was caught off guard.
"Man the #LakeShow missed out," one fan pointed out.

In his two seasons with the Hawks, Murray averaged 21.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists. Unfortunately, he and Trae Young were only able to lead Atlanta to one playoff appearance during his stay.

Lakers were unwilling to include key role player for Dejounte Murray

The LA Lakers were rumored to be a team that was interested in trading for Dejounte Murray. However, the Lakers and Hawks couldn't see eye-to-eye when it came to the trade package for Murray. Atlanta was reportedly asking for LA to include Austin Reaves in the trade package.

Talks between the two teams began during the 2023-24 season, leading up to the trade deadline. The Athletic's Sam Amick reported about the chance the Lakers could've had in acquiring the All-Star point guard. However, they didn't want to let go of Reaves at that time, and even now, their stance hasn't changed.

"Murray, meanwhile, was a player that the Lakers could have had at the February trade deadline if they’d been willing to put Reaves into the deal. He’s a possibility now, as well, but league sources say the Lakers’ stance on Reaves remains the same," Amick reported.

Now, the Lakers have missed out on trading for Murray and a rival Western Conference team potentially improved after the trade.
