"His wife is the freak" - NBA fans in shambles over Kings interim coach Doug Christie's 'wildin' pic with wife Jackie resurfacing online

NBA fans online were left in shambles after Sacramento Kings interim coach Doug Christie's old pictures were posted on social media. On Saturday, NBA Insider Chris Haynes reported that the Kings had decided to make Christe their interim coach after the franchise fired Mike Brown.

A fan reposted Haynes' tweet about the topic on X, formerly Twitter, and accompanied an old picture of the coach and his wife. In the picture, Christie is seen squatting down while wearing a suit and a collar attached to a leash around his neck. The coach's wife Jackie is holding the leash while standing beside him.

Fans online rushed to the post's comment section to express their thoughts on Doug Christie's old photo.

"His wife is the freak."

Other fans joined the troll train and expressed similar sentiments about the Christies in their comments.

Doug Christie is a three-time All-Defensive second team who has played for big teams like the LA Lakers and the NY Knicks.

Sacramento Kings replace Mike Brown with Doug Christie shortly after Brown's De'Aaron Fox comment

The Sacramento Kings made a shocking decision on Friday and announced they would be parting ways with their head coach Mike Brown. Brown had been in charge of the squad since the 2022-23 and and helped the franchise end its 16-season-long playoff drought.

However, the two-time Coach of the Year has been struggling to recreate the success he had in his inaugural season. In the 2023-24 season, the Kings failed to secure a playoff squad and were knocked out of the play-in tournament.

This season they aimed to secure the 6th spot or better in the standings and avoid the play-in. However, it has been a disaster for the franchise as they have a 13-18 record and hold the 12th seed in the Western Conference standings.

The Pistons defeated the Kings on Thursday 114-113 after Jaden Ivey made a 4-point play in the final moments. The defeat extended the Kings' losing streak to five games.

After the game, Brown criticized star De'Aaron Fox in front of the media for allowing that play to happen.

"You should be hugged up to your man at the 3-point line,” Brown said. “Everybody should, and why there was a closeout by Fox, I’m not sure. I got to go back and watch the tape. But for sure 100% we told our guys, can’t give up a 3, can’t give up a 3, can’t give up a 3, stay on the high side, stay on the high side."

Soon after his statements, Brown was released from his duties. The Kings chose Doug Christie as the interim coach. Christie is a former NBA player who has been in the assistant coach position for the Kings since 2021.
