Former NBA Coach of the Year George Karl recently shared his 2025 sporting wish list, revealing one particular hope involving LeBron James. The Hall of Fame coach took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his desire for LeBron to embark on a farewell tour, allowing the 20-time All-Star to gracefully conclude his illustrious career.

"Sports things I’m hoping for in ‘25…Announcement of the Sonics return. LeBron’s farewell tour. Belicheck leading Carolina to the playoffs. Prime too. College sports $ clarity. Premiere of our ABA series on Amazon," Karl tweeted.

LeBron James, now in his 22nd NBA season, continues to perform at a high level for the Lakers. While the four-time NBA champion may not dominate the game as he once did, his impact remains significant across multiple facets of play.

LeBron James on retirement

LeBron James celebrated his 40th birthday on Monday and made a bold statement about his longevity, claiming he could play for another seven years if he chose to. Speaking to reporters after the Lakers' practice session, the former Cleveland Cavaliers star acknowledged that he is approaching the final stages of his storied career in the world’s premier basketball league.

"It won't be because I can't play this game at a high level, it won't be because of that,” James said. "To be honest, if I really wanted to, I (would) probably play this game at a high level about ... another five to seven years if I wanted to. But I'm not gonna do that."

Additionally, LeBron also reiterated his desire to conclude his NBA career as a member of the Lakers.
